Please read the following to learn about our privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) and the ways in which Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies (hereinafter referred to as “we”, “us”) shall treat your information before you (“user”, “your”, “he”, “she”) proceed with the use of the mobile application IJLS (“IJLS App”, “Application”, “App”).
Please note the download and use of the App for the purpose of the course. The App is free of charge.
The IJLS App allows users to enrol in courses at the IJLS, including CPD, Induction for Prospective Barristers, Diplôme Universitaire, workshops, and short courses. Users can also record their attendance, make payments, and view their continuous professional development hours.
The App also includes the additional features such as notifications and possibility to apply for accreditations.
To access services through IJLS, you need to log in using the Government Single Sign-On MauPass Account. The information you submit will be used solely to manage the services you request. Recording your attendance will require using your mobile camera to scan QR codes. Once you are registered and your identity is verified, depending on the option you select, the app will grant you access to the modules within the Mobile App.
Camera Permission: This permission is required by the QR Code scanner to record attendance.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: This permission is required to download a document in your Mobile App.
The data collected is processed using computers and IT-enabled tools and appropriate security measures are taken to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorised destruction of the data.
The data may be used for legal purposes in court, or in the stages leading to possible legal action arising from the improper use of this Application or related services.
The legal basis for the above processing shall be the following:
i. Consent; or
ii. legitimate interests i.e. the proper administration of the IJLS App;
Only aggregated, anonymized data may be transmitted to external services to help us improve the Application and our service. IJLS will not share your information with any third parties except in the ways that are described in this privacy statement.
We may disclose data collected:
• as required by law, such as to comply with legal process;
• when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
• with our trusted services providers who work on our behalf, do not have an independent use of the information we disclose to them, and have agreed to adhere to the rules set forth in this privacy statement.
You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling the Application. If you have opted to get notifications and you wish to stop receiving push notifications, you can change the settings on your mobile device.
IJLS subscribers can also request the IJLS Admin for their data to be deleted.
