About us

The Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies has been established under the Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies Act 2011.

Vision

The IJLS aims to be a centre of excellence recognised in the region for professional legal education.

Mission

The IJLS operates under the aegis of the Judiciary and conducts various training programs, workshops, and seminars for legal professionals, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses. The CPD courses are tailored for law practitioners, enabling knowledge sharing and best practices across borders, thereby enhancing the professional capabilities of legal professionals.

Objectives

The primary objectives of this institute include fostering continuing legal education, promoting proficiency in the judiciary, and encouraging international cooperation in legal studies. The IJLS facilitates international exchanges with various jurisdictions in judicial and legal studies. This is achieved through organising courses, seminars, and workshops that invite foreign experts and foster collaboration with international legal bodies.

IJLS Redesigned Website

The Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies (IJLS) is pleased to announce the launch of Phase 1 of its redesigned website https://ijls.govmu.org. The new site offers enhanced navigation and an improved user experience.

Phase 2 will introduce online registration, providing access to a range of services, including course enrolment, secure QR code payment processing and a platform for tracking Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours. A mobile application will also be available thereby facilitating attendance recording at IJLS and providing notifications of upcoming courses, workshops, and conferences.
